An approach on database index schemes

Abstract

This paper introduces an index type called ROWID index. The ROWID index provides a direct access to the rows specified by the SQL statement, without spending any time for looking for these rows. ROWID index stores the ROWID's of the rows, which belong to specific criteria at an index table - will be called ROWID Table. The ROWID Table is used later to retrieve the rows belong to the criteria. The ROWID Table can be re-indexed using another indexes' types, which will impact positively the performance of finding or retrieving the data at the database.
