Abstract


Among the numerous stelae found in the cemetery of Dendera1 is the stela of Bbi.2
It resides today in R 17 cage E S b of the Cairo Museum .This stela
has not been published hitherto, though it has been previously described in
print.4 Traces of orange colour are evident on the bodies of the men depicted. The stela is
in perfect condition, except for some damage to the faces of the figures shown on it.
The stela is roughly rectangular in shape and was prepared with incised borderlines.
Its surface is generally smooth and even, except in the damaged areas. The edges of the
stela are chipped and its sides were probably left rough. It is made of hard limestone and
measures 55cm in breadth by 50cm in height. The figures and offerings are carefully carved
in raised relief.
