The Relationship Between Exposure to Positive Media Psychology and Well-being and Behavior: A Correlational Study

Singer, Nermeen;

Abstract

The field of positive media psychology has gained attention as researchers explore the impact of positive media on people's well-being and behavior. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between exposure to positive media and both well-being and behavior among a sample of 200 adults in Egypt. Results showed that higher levels of exposure to positive media were associated with greater subjective well-being and pro-social behavior, even after controlling for demographic variables and negative media exposure. These findings suggest that positive media has the potential to promote individuals' well-being and behavior, and emphasize the importance of incorporating positive media psychology into research and interventions aimed at enhancing human flourishing. However, the study has limitations such as the use of self-report measures and a non-random sample. Future research should explore the causal relationships between positive media exposure and well-being and behavior using experimental designs. Overall, this study adds to the growing body of literature on positive media psychology and highlights its potential as a tool for promoting positive outcomes in individuals' lives.
