Abstract


Background: Craving is closely interconnected with substance addiction. Although, it hasalso been identified as a relevant factor in continued substance use and relapse after stopping. self-efficacy, is the ability to resist substance use in risk situations. Aim: The study was aimedtoassessa relation between substance use craving and self-efficacy in addict patients. Design: Adescriptivecorrelational design was utilized in this study. Setting and subject: Conducted on convenient 250hospitalized addict patients in addiction and rehabilitation department at El-Abbasia PsychiatricHospital in Cairo. Data Collection tools: Using Socio-demographic data sheet, Brief SubstanceCraving Scale (BSCS) and Alcohol Abstinence Self-Efficacy Scale (AASE). Results: Highpercent
of the studied patients had severe level craving, and middle level of self-efficacy. Conclusion:There was a statistically significant negative correlation between substance craving and substanceabstinence self-efficacy. Recommendations: The present study recommended that developingpsychosocial intervention for Enhancing self-efficacy and resilience among addict patients
