Abdelhaleem, Mahmoud;
Abstract
Data journalism has become an essential tool for countering misinformation, particularly in complex scientific issues such as climate change. This study examines the effectiveness of data-driven news reports in correcting misleading climate information by analyzing audience responses to visualized datasets, interactive graphics, and evidence-based storytelling. Findings indicate that data-rich journalistic formats improve readers’ understanding of climate facts, increase trust in scientific evidence, and significantly reduce susceptibility to misinformation. The study highlights the importance of transparency, visualization clarity, and contextual explanation as key elements that enhance the corrective power of data journalism.
