Abstract

The Greco -Roman Museum in Alexandria contains a bronze bust of Isis goddess[w1] or a Ptolemaic Queen came from Abu Qir (Canopus). It is a small[w2] , representing Isis in a frontal position with a head facing slightly to the left. The statue is hollow from the back, which raises many questions about the function it, [w3] It was using from the front only; Perhaps it was using as an applique. The research deals with a descriptive study of this bust as well as an analytical study to find out the function of this bust. And also we will compare it with the bronze busts used as an applique on fulcra of klinae and beds, boxes, vessels and altars from Egypt in the Greek and Roman period. There are many examples of these bronze busts representing the goddess or kings. In addition to compare the statue with some busts made of bronze and other materials from Egypt or out, which represent the goddess Isis, and Berenice II.
