Abstract

Two field experiments were carried out during1998/1999 and 1999/2000 to study the effect of various irrigation system on soil properties, the growth characteristics, nutritional status and yield of potato plants grown on an alluvial soil. Drip irrigation of 2 feddans, siphon irrigation system 2 feddans and traditional farming (surface irrigation) were prepared, agricultural practices and management were carried as recommended organic and bio-dynamic for agriculture for potato crop . Obtained data revealed that there were differences between drip irrigation system, siphon and surface irrigation system on the growth characteristics stems, leaves, (fresh and dry weight), total chlorophyll specific gravity , tuber weight/plant, total yield. Also, the nutrients and heavy metals content for shoots and tubers.
