Abstract

Sweet pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) yield and fruit quality have been evaluated during the growing seasons of 1992-1993 and 1993-1994 under unheated plastic houses at Bousaily. The study comprised 7 treatments, 4 out of them were foliar spray nutrients (Superphosphate 1%, 2%; Magnesium sulphate 500, 1000 ppm.), water sleeves, P.E. mulch and control. The parameters recorded were yield and fruit characters i.e length, diameter, flesh thickness and average fruit weight from Dec-May. Foliar application of superphosphate 2% proved to be the best treatment among all of them followed by superphosphate 1%. These treatments led to increase significantly the total yield/plot and the same trend was true for fruit weight, length, diameter and flesh thickness in the studied months in both years while control gave the least parameters.
