Detection of certain pesticides residues in the Kareish cheese samples collected from different markets at Qalubia governorate, Egypt.

Abstract
Detection of pesticide residues was carried out in the Kareish cheese samples collected from six markets at Qalubia governorate through four seasons within the year 2001. The detected pesticide residues were organochlorine pesticides (DDT derivatives, hexachlorocyclohexane and cyclodienes) and non-organochlorine pesticides (organophosphorus, pyrethroids and others). For the organochlorine compounds, o,p '-DOE and p,p '-ODD exhibited the higher positive frequency percent, Le. 11.47 and 11.47 % as total mean during the four seasons. Also, the analyzed cheese samples showed that the higher positive frequencies were at Summer and Autumn seasons, Le. 10.01 and 8.40 %, respectively. In addition, heptachlor (as a cyclodiene compound) was the most frequent pesticide followed by a: -HCH and 13HCH (hexachlorocyclohexane isomers), i.e. 17.70, 16.66 and 15.62, respectively. Moreover, the recorded data showed that cheese samples from Qalyiob, Shoubra, Toukh and Benha contained the highest pesticide residues, especially at the summer season. On the other hand, the mean of such residues reached 0.22, 0.14, 0.14 and 0.14 ppm, respectively. In case of the non-organochlorine pesticide residues, thiram fungicide was the most frequent pesticide during the four seasons followed by the OP's profenofos, whereas benefin was the lower frequent compound. The calculated percent of positive frequencies were, 16.66, 15.62 and 10.42 %, respectively. On the other hand, fenitrothion, parathion, profenofos, pyridaben and alphamethrin were highly increased in the collected cheese samples at Spring season followed by Summer, while thiram and benalaxyl increased in Summer more than Spring season. In addition, data clearly indicated that the cheese samples collected from Qalyiob and EI-Kanater containing the higher non-organochlorine pesticide residues at Spring season.
