Abstract
This paper aims to contribute to the capital structure research by examining the effect of the corporate governance mechanisms on the capital structure of SMEs in one of the emerging economies. We examine the association between some corporate governance mechanisms and the capital structure for a sample of 27 Egyptian SMEs that are listed in NileX index over a period 2010 – 2016. We find that CEO duality has a positive effect on the Egyptian SMEs capital decisions.
