STUDIES OF DIFFERENT CITRUS ROOTSTOCKS ON GROWTH, YIELD AND FRUIT QUALITY OF VALENCIA ORANGE

Abstract

The present study was carried out during seasons of 2012 and 2013, toevaluate Valencia orange (C. Sinensis L. Osbeck) trees budded on four citrusrootstocks , i.e. Cleopatra mandarin, Sour orange’ Rangpur lime and Volkamer lemon.The experimental trees were grown in a newly reclaimed sandy soil at the orchard ofEL-Kassasin Horticulture Research Station, Ismailia Governorate Egypt. Theconsidered parameters were mostly of significant responses among Valencia orangecv. and the four studied rootstocks. This study presented that the superiority ofVolkamer lemon rootstock for Valencia orange trees, as compared with the othertested rootstocks. On the contrary, Rangpur lime rootstock seemed to be the worstone for Valencia orange trees under the experimental conditions.
