Navigation through uncertainties: Part B: Agro-ecosystems affected by dynamic impact of climate change

El-Beltagy, Adel S.;

Abstract

To address the multifaceted challenges of climate change, a comprehensive strategy is essential. Central to this is a unifed approach that combines scientifc and indigenous knowledge to create an early-warning system, focusing on the local impact assessment of climate change, especially where livelihoods are threatened. Modernizing agricultural practices is crucial, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies such as Artifcial Intelligence (AI), and emphasizing precision and regenerative techniques. The changing agro-ecological zones necessitate collaboration among global and national gene banks to initiate breeding programs for resilient crops. Advanced AI-driven Decision Support Systems are vital for effective crop management in these evolving zones. Human resource development and institutional restructuring will amplify resilience. It is also pivotal to gauge climate-induced loss and damage. In embracing the principle of inclusivity, international collaboration is paramount to mitigate climate change's disproportionate burdens on vulnerable populations. This initiative will necessitate the cooperation between UN organizations and regional and global fnancial institutions.
