Abstract
The paper introduces an EU-research project (ECOPONICS, ICA3-CT-2002- 10020) within the 5th Framework Programme (INCO-MED) that has been designed to improve the efficiency of water use (WUE) for major horticultural crops in the Mediterranean horticultural sector by means of the environmentally sound hydroponic production ECOPONICS.
