Abstract

The interaction of P-Zn was studied in five experiments. This is the fifth experiment studied the effect of reducing P and Zn in the nutrient solution on the mineral content of cucumber plants grown in NFT. Reducing Zn in the nutrient solution reduced Zn in all plant parts but it increased P and Mn in the leaves. Changes in the content of these two elements changed the water soluble Zn (WS Zn) and P (WSP) in different plant parts which responded differently affecting the uptake and translocation of each other. This affected the ratios between these elements. From this work and previous work it is important to consider the P-Zn-Mn complex in relation to the P/Zn interaction.
