Abstract

The effect of solarization and fumigation with methyl bromide (MB) on productivity and fruit quality of strawberry was investigated during two successive seasons from 2001-2003. Results demonstrate that plant height and root length were significantly increased by fumigation with MB, as compared with solarization or using Nemaless, a commercial biofertilizer containing a strain of the bacterium Serratia marcescens, in the both seasons. Significant improvements with MB were obtained also in early and total yields as well as total soluble solids and ascorbic acid.
