Abstract
The effect of cycocel (CCC) in regulating shedding in Vicia faba plants were investigated Abscission percentage in buds, flowers and immature pods was found to be 92.5 and 89.5% for Giza '2" and Giza '402" respectively, whereas CCC-treatments at 100,250 and 500 ppm as seed soaking reduced such drop to 6.2 and 3.2% below the normal, specially at 100 and 250 pmm CCC applications, for variety Giza '2' and Giza "204' respectively. In this investigation, CCC-application resulied in geting better results, i now, in reducing such drop and increasing broad bean yield. Although the reduction percentage was low, it is considered as a successful atternpt having regard to the fact that the final yield in natural conditions after shedding process is between 7.5 and 10.5%, whereas the total loss in the yield was 92.5 and 89.5% for variety Giza '2 and Giza '402' respectively.
