Abstract

The ovicidal activity of several insecticides and their combinations with a mineral oil (KZ oil 4) was tested in the laboratory against eggs of the noctuid Spodoptera littoralis of different ages. Fenvalerate, cyanophos and cartap had the greatest ovicidal effect and 3-day-old eggs were most susceptible, although there was little difference between eggs of different ages. The greatest synergistic effect was found when the LC25 of the insecticide was mixed with that of the oil, such mixtures being most effective against 3-day-old eggs.
