Abstract
The demand for edible vegetable oils is increasing significantly and rapidly in Egypt due to the successive population increase and changing consumption patterns, at a time when edible oil crops are suffering from the problem of declining areas and thus decreasing production, and thus the ability of local production to provide the required needs is decreasing. Which leads to dependence on abroad to fill the oil food gap. The research aims to study the development of Egyptian imports of food oils (soybean oil - sunflower oil), and to rely on the partial equilibrium methodology to measure the impact of price imbalances, especially resulting from the liberalization of the exchange rate. Accordingly, the study period (2012-2022) was divided into two periods, the first The second represents the period before the liberalization of the exchange rate, and the second represents the period after the liberalization of the exchange rate (2016-2022).Through study, measurement and analysis, the research reached a set of results.
