Abstract
White-spot lesions can be car-ious, such as those occur-ring in orthodontic patients, or noncarious, such as fluorosis or enamel hypoplasia.1 The occur-rence of white-spot lesions in orthodontic patients is reportedly as high as 97%.2-5 Possible causes include poor oral hygiene, microbial adhe-sion, biofilm formation, and acids produced by bacteria colonizing the biofilm.6.
