Abstract
Aim:
To investigate the effect of time of remineralization whether before or after or before and after bleaching on the color change with fluoride-free and fluoride containing bleaching agents.
Materials and Methods:
A total of 56 bovine dental crowns were randomly allocated into eight groups (n = 7), and bleached with either 40% hydrogen peroxide teeth whitening systems (Opalescence® Boost 40% HP, Ultra dent Product) or (WHITE smile Power Whitening YF 40% HP, WHITEsmile GmbH). Four different protocols of application of MI paste were considered: without MI paste, MI paste applied before bleaching, MI paste applied after bleaching, and MI paste applied both before and after bleaching.
Bleaching effectiveness was measured by the VITA EasyShade spectrophotometer utilizing the CIE Lab system. Color measurements were measured at baseline (t1), immediately after bleaching (t2) and after 7 day of bleaching (t3) Data were subjected to the - Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis test to evaluate the effect of bleaching systems, time of application of MI paste and their interaction on total color difference.
Results: The application of a CPP-ACP paste did not reduce the efficacy of bleaching peroxides.
Conclusion:
The application of remineralization agent (CCP-ACP) whether before or after or before and after bleaching didn’t affect tooth whitening and The addition of fluoride ions or desensitizing agents (potassium nitrate) for bleaching material didn’t effect on tooth whitening.
