Effect of Educational Program on Nurses Performance regarding Caring of Patients with Multiple Sclerosis Relapse

Abstract
Multiple sclerosis (MS) disease relapse is exacerbation which occurr as new MS symptoms or the deterioration of old symptoms. Nurses play a critical role in enhancing care and must know treatments and interventions to provide thorough care for patients with MS relapse. Study aim: assess the effect of educational program on the performance of nurses (Knowledge and practice) regarding caring of patients with MS relapse. Design of the study: Quasi-experimental design (pre & post). Setting of the study: Neurology unit which affiliated to Ain shams university hospital. Subject of the study: Convenient sample of all available nurses (30) who work in the previous mentioned setting. Tools of data collection: Tool I: Nurses Interviewing questionnaire & Tool II: Nurses practice observational-checklist. Results: This study illustrated that there was a positive correlation with a statistically significant at P = 0.00 between knowledge and practice pre and post educational program implementation which mean the improvement of knowledge of nurses and practice. Conclusion: it can be concluded that the educational program had statistical significant positive effect regarding knowledge and practice of the nurses involved in patients care who experiencing MS relapse. Recommendation: Implement ongoing educational programs tailored for nurses to the specific needs of patients with MS relapse. Organize regular workshops and seminars to enhance knowledge and practice of the nurses related care of MS relapse in adult patients.
