Biography
Dr.Shimaa Mahmoud Abdel Moniem is an Assistant Professor of English Literature at the Faculty of Women for Arts, Sciences and Education, English Department, Ain Shams University. She specializes in English Poetry, especially contemporary American poetry. She had her master’s degree with excellence in 2012. Her M.A. thesis discussed how Arab-American poetry as a post-colonial discourse enables Arab-Americans to write back to resist stereotyping and its consequences. Shimaa had her Ph.D with honors in 2017. Her Ph.D. dissertation tackled war trauma of the U.S.-led war on Iraq from a psychoanalytic perspective. Her research interests are Arab-American literature, trauma literature and psychoanalysis. Besides her academic interests, Shimaa has a special interest in translation from English to Arabic and vice versa.
