Aim: This study aimed at examining the relationship between time management skills used by newly graduated baccalaureate nurses and their job satisfaction.
Subjects and Methods: Research design: A cross-sectional analytic design was utilized in carrying out the study. This study was conducted in various departments in Ain Shams University hospitals (Ain Shams hospital, El Demerdash hospital, Obstetrics hospital and pediatrics hospital). A total of 40 newly graduate baccalaureate nurses were included in this study, three different tools for data collection were used in this study. These were a self-administered questionnaire sheet for personal characteristics, time management, and controlling time interruptions, a delegation tool, and a job satisfaction questionnaire tool.
Results: findings of the study indicated that (72.5%) of the sample were low capable of time planning, (22.5%) of them mostly delegate correctly, while 67.5% of the new graduates have reported inadequate controlling of time interruptions, (60.0%) had low capabilities of time management, and 65% of them were dissatisfied with their jobs. there was a strong statistically significant positive correlation between time management skills used by new graduates nurses and their job satisfaction (r= 0.666, p<0.001)( X2=10.4, p<0.006).
Conclusion and recommendations: It is concluded that around two thirds of the new graduates in the study sample had low time management skills and dissatisfied with their job. There was a significant strong positive correlation between management skills used by new graduate nurses and their job satisfaction. Therefore, it is recommended that clinical management and leadership skills training programs should be designed for bachelor nursing students with more emphasis on managing time, focusing on prioritization, and delegation skills. Hospital administration should identify factors that contributing to job satisfaction. Further research is necessary to investigate the effect of time management skills on job satisfaction on a large sample of nurses.
