Biography
Prof. Mona Wahsh is an Associate Professor of English at the Faculty of Women for Arts, Science and Education, Ain Shams University. She specializes in Modern English Drama, Modern American Drama, and Comparative Literature, with a research focus on 20th-century British theatre and its intersections with modern Arab drama.
Prof. Wahsh obtained her Ph.D. in Modern English Drama and Comparative Literature (First Class Honors) in 1991. Her doctoral dissertation, “The Angry British Theatre of Osborne and Wesker and the Theatre of Nouman Ashur,” was supervised by Professor Fadila Fattouh. She earned her M.A. (with Distinction) in 1985 with a thesis titled “John Osborne and Arthur Miller: A Comparative Study,” under the supervision of **Professor Boshra Sabry. She holds a **B.A. in English Language and Literature (with Honors) from Kuwait University (1977) and a High School Diploma from the German School (1973). Prof. Wahsh has held several academic leadership positions. She has served as Head of the English Department, Faculty of Women, Ain Shams University, from August 2013 till 2014, with responsibilities including departmental administration, curriculum development, quality assurance, and faculty mentorship. She previously served as **Head of the English Department at City Academy**, contributing to program development and academic oversight. Throughout her career, Prof. Wahsh has taught widely across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, supervised theses in drama and comparative literature, served on academic committees, and participated in conferences.
