Abstract

Bums exert a catastrophic influence on people in terms of human life, suffering, disability, and financial loss. Progress in the management of bum patients continues at a rapid pace and has led to dramatic reductions in morbidity and mortality.

The essential elements of survival of major bum injury are fluid therapy, nutrition, meticulous wound management, and the early surgical excision and grafting. Regarding wound care, the appropriate selection of a topical therapeutic agent can improve the healing of wounds and lead to decreased patient morbidity.
