PERIORBITAL PIGMENTATION

Abstract
Background:
Periorbital pigmentation (P.O.P.) is a common condition particulary in oriental races, the cause of P.O.P. is far from clear. Most cases have been considered familial and may be associated with internal disorders.
Rationale:
Most major text book of dermatology have not discussed this problem in details and since the cause of P.O.P is multiple and still obscure, and the treatment of P.O.P. has been disappointing emphasyzing mainly on camouflage and bleacher, so we find it important to probe this topic furtherly.
Objectives:
The purpose of this thesis is to:
1) Review the literature on P.O.P. in an attempt to throw more light on the classification, the possible causes and any therapeutic trials.
2) Laboratory and histopathological studies on fourty cases with
P.O.P.
Methods:
The study will be conducted on fourty cases of P.O.P. and the following will be done for each case.
