Structural Setting and Reservoir Characterization of Syn- Rift Facies, West Gebel El-Zeit Area, Gulf of Suez, Egypt

AHMED ABDEL SATTAR MAYHOUB;

Abstract

The study area including Al Amir and Geyad fields (onshore
Northwest Gemsa) is located in West Gebel El Zeit area, covering an
area of about 39 km2 and 26.4 km2.
 The study area is a PetroAmir concession (Geyad and Al Amir
concessions) which includes nine wells from north to south ; Shehab-
1x, Geyad-2X, Geyad-1X, Al Amir-1X, Al Amir SE-1X and St, Al
Amir SE-2X, Al amir SE-3X, Al Amir SE-4X, Al Amir SE-5X and
Al Amir SE-6X.
 The raw data of the selected wells, include the formation tops MD
(Measured depths), TVDSS (True vertical subsea depth) and TD (total
drilling depth).
The Stratigraphic framework was concentrated on the four main
reservoir units (Nukhul, Rudeis, Kareem and Belayim formations).
The used wireline logs are; Gamma-ray log(GR), Neutron
porosity(NPHI), Bulk density(RHOB), Photoelectric(PE), Dual-
Laterolog (deep)(LLD), Dual-Laterolog (shallow) (LLS) and
Microspherically Focused (MSFL).
 Based on the high resolution biostratigraphic zonation of the studied
wells the definition of foraminiferal and calcareous nannoplankton
zones have been adopted for the study sequences. These have also been
calibrated with the equivalent biostratigraphic schemes of the
Mediterranean basin. There are some wells with no bio-data and
accordingly, their cyclolog pattern and cycles definition have been
interpreted and correlated with the results reached in other wells.
