A STUDY OF SOME PROTECTIVE AND PREDISPOSING FACTORS AFFECTING THROMBOGENESIS IN RATS

Laila Ahmed EI-Sayed Ahmed;

Abstract

The present work was conducted in order to investigate the effect of some protective factors on thrombogenesis such as administration of vitamin A (as an antioxidant), and supplementation of diet with dietary fibre. In addition, the effect of soine risk factors on thrombogenesis was also investigated and these include prolonged exposure to passive smoking, and estrogen deficiency which was induced by administration of tamoxifen (an estrogen receptor blocker) and by ovariectomy. Parameters denoting arterial thrombogenesis are platelet aggregation % and lipid prolife in terms of serum level of total cholesterol, LDL-C, HDL-C, and triglyceride.
