The Diagnostic Role of Cervico-Vaginal Fluid Interleukin-1α in Endometriosis
Mohamed Abdou Mohamed;
Abstract
Abstract
Endometriosis is a complex disease characterized by the extrauterine presence of endometrial glands and stroma. It is multifactorial in origin and associated with pain and infertility. Endometriosis affects and impacts the lives of millions of women all over the world. Early diagnosis of the disease is still not possible, as laparoscopy remains the diagnostic gold standard.
In women with endometriosis, genetic and environmental factors, major hormonal and immune changes have been observed, particularly a chronic immune-inflammatory process, and the difficulty of diagnosis is the possible cause of variable incidence.
