Employment of Polymer Concrete In Perforated Composite Section for Beams with Eccentric Holes and calculation of plastic behavior for this type of beams
Ayman Yehia Kamel;
Abstract
The mam objective of tltis thesis is devoted to study the plastic behavior of composite beams with pol ymer concrete slab and multiple
eccentric web openings. The opening locations were varied over the
I beam's length to investigate the different moment-shear ratios applied to tl1e center-line of the critical opening. The analytical model of such beams
I includs the study of the different hole failure mechanism that the beam
may be subjected to such as, single hole failme, double hole failure and
I glob(!) hol e failure. /\I so. the stability of web-post between adjacent holes
is studied to avoid the 1f ilme due to the interaction between openings. The
I I analysis is based on the conservatively assumed stress distribution at the
I I hol e bmmdaries and sa tisfies equilibrimn and yield condition. The ana l ysi s is limited in scope to rectan gular openings and includ es the
I con tJ ibution of the polymer conct etc slab to shear strength. as well as
flex ural stren gth.
I In general, the obt(lined results from tl1e analysis arc presented in a senes of interaction diagrams to explore the effects of opening
I dimensions, eccentricity. spacing between web openings and the concrete
slab parameters on the stren gth of the composite beam.
: I fina1ly, Compmisons are made between the obtained rcsu)l') from
the analysis and those previously obtai n ed ,either experimentall y or
I I theoreticall y, to veri fy the genera l accuracy of the analysis. Tn general, the
analysis provides realistic, and generall y conservative predictions of the
I strength for tl1e previously tested beams.
