Abstract

The present study was putormed to study•.the efTect of introducing di1Terent levels of cx:-solanine, S. nigmm L leaves and alkaloid extract of S. nigmm L. leaves in the diets given orally to adult growing rats for 90 days on:
1- Food intake and body weight gain of rats (initial and final weight).

2- Organs weight (liver, kidney, heart, spleen and brain).

3- Hematological indices as Hb & HCT in rat's blood.

4- Biochemical indices which include:

4-1- Glucose.

4-2- Kidney functions test: Urea, creatinine, total protein, albumin, globulins, A/G and uric acid.
4-3- Liver functions test: Alanine and aspartate aminotransferase

(ALT & AST) and alkaline phosphatase.

4- Lipid profile It includes Cholesterol, HDL-C, LDL-C, VLDL-C, triacylglycerol and phospholipids.
4-5- Neurotransmitters: It includes Blood and brain serotonin and acetylcholi ncsterase.
5- Histopathological examination of kidney (proximal convoulated

tubules (PCT), maximal convoulated tubules (OCT)), liver, heart

(longitudinal section (LS), transverse section (TS)) and spleen.
