A STUDY ON SOME HYDROLASES IN SHEEP FASCIOLIASIS

Fayza Abdel Aziz El-Tedawy;

Abstract

Fascioliasis is one of the most important problems among the parasitic infection in Egypt. It causes greatest loss of meat in sheep, cattle and buffaloes.

Liver damage in living animals is condemned in slaughter animals. Also it causes losses of production, weight and inability to work. It occupies a central position in the metabolism of animals and the disturbance m its structure and may have senous consequence. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the effect of fascioliasis infection on hydrolases enzymes activities. The present thesis was undertaken to detect the biochemical changes of the cell through the study of some hydrolases (arylsulfatase A, arylsulfatase B, -0- glucuronidase, lipase, alkaline phosphatase, a-Amylase and leucine aminopeptidase) in fascioliasis infestation. These enzymes were assayed in sheep sera from (control and infected) sheep as well as liver tissues
(control and i11fested liver tissue).

ASA and ASB has been determined by colorimetric method using p-nitrocatechol sulfate as a substrate. Whereas -0-glucuronidase has been measured by its effect on p-nitrophenyl-- 0-glucuronide as a substrate. Lipase has been measured by a quantitative turbidimetric
