Ola Abd Elgalil Safwat Ali;

Abstract

The spleen has important diverse roles in homeostasis. Its normal functions are affected in a number of primary blood diseases as well as in other clinical disorders when its dysfunction may, in tum, give rise to haematological abnormalities. These haematological effects may be a minor phenomenon but in some cases they may come to dominate the clinical pFesentation.

Assessment of splenic function and structure are important in the diagnosis, staging and management, as well recently developed techniques, •instruments and apparatuses has provided very valuable
progress in this respect.
