GENETICAL STUDIES ON SOME AGRONOMICAL AND CHEMICAL CHARACTERS IN EGYPTIAN COTTON

Azima Mohamed Abd El-Salam;

Abstract

This investigation was carried out to study the influence of growth regulators on cotton characteristics and estimation of genetic variability, heritability and expected genetic gain from selection inter-cotton varieties. Estimation of both general and specific combining ability in a diallel set of cotton varieties under different growth regulators effects and their implication in future breeding program was also another aim for this investigation.

This study was conducted at Sakha Agricultural Experiment Station in 1993, 1994 and 1995 to study the influence of growth regulators t.e. Gibberellic acid (GA 3) and Cycocel (CCC) foliar
applications in addition to control experiment on the genetic variability

and the type of gene action among the Egyptian colton varieties. This investigation was divided into two main topics.
