Abstract

Combinations of surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy cure as many as 85% of patients when the tumor is localized Unfortunately, most patients present with advanced disease associated with regional and often distant metasiases. Under these circumstances, conventional therapy is less effective, and about 50% of all patients with cancer remain incurable (DeNardo GL et al, 1999). Alternative therapy isrequired, particularly o eradicate residual microscopic disease which often influences prognosis. The objective is to employ a suitable therapeutic agent to target small tumor foci disseminated within the organism. Such targeting requires an agent capable of selective recognition and efficient destruction of these tumor cell clusters (Chatal JF and Mahe'M,1998).
