STUDIES ON SOME HETEROCYCLIC COMPOUNDS

Abstract

Pyrazolo[l,5-a]pyrimidines are punne analogues and as such have useful properties as antimetabolites in purine biochemical reaction. Also, pyrazolo[l ,5-a] pyrimidines are potential drugs for schistosomiasis was of interest to us. Schistosomiasis is one of the most difficult diseases to treat and is a national problem in our country. Thus, pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines have again attracted our attention. In the present work we report here a facile and easy rout for the synthesis of several new pyrazolo[l,5-a]pyrimidines VJa the reaction of cinnamonitrile or alkylidenemalononitrile derivatives with ethyl 5-amino-3-methylthio-IH-pyrazole-4- carboxylate. Also, reaction of diazotised of the latter with active hydrogen reagent afforded pyrazolo[5,1-c][I ,2,4]triazines.
