The Role of urinary chitinase 3 Like Protein 1 for Early Detection of Acute Kidney Injury in Adult Critically Ill Patients

Internal Medicine;

Abstract

Chitinase 3 like protein 1(YKL-40) is evolutionary conserved 18-glycosyl hydrolase protein that cannot cleave chitin. It is produced by many cells involving neutrophils, monocytes/macrophages, synovial cells, muscle cells, smooth muscle cells, endothelial cells, tumor cells, and colonic, ductal, and airway epithelial cells. It was recently discovered as a biomarker of acute kidney injury and delayed graft rejection in kidney transplant patients.
The current study is aimed to assess the role of urinary chitinase 3 like protein 1 (CHI3L1) using (YKL-40, CHI3L1 ELISA kit) as an early biomarker for detection of acute kidney injury in adult critically
