Platelet-rich Plasma Gel in Wound Closure in Recurrent Cesarean Section Randomized Controlled Trial
Nour El Eslam Hamdy Mahmoud;
Abstract
latelet rich plasma (PRP) is a blood derivative that contains a high value of platelet concentration which acts as a delivery system of many growth factors. Through these release reactions of many growth factors, PRP is believed to have a crucial role in the healing system.
No standard method for PRP preparation is present, although many studies have discussed the PRP clinical applications in various specialties e.g. maxillofacial, orthopedics and plastic surgery. Most of these emphasized on the role of PRP in chronic wounds.
We believe that researching the role of PRP in healing process of acute wounds in healthy patients is of a paramount importance. This allows us to judge the PRP role in wound healing fairly without bias caused by many factors that may alter the healing process.
In our study we tried to evaluate the role of PRP gel as an adjuvant in the healing process in cesarean section wound, we chose healthy women with pervious cesarean section in elective operation that represent a good example of the acute wound.
Among many methods of PRP preparations we chose
