ANALYZING THE BLUETOOTH PERFORMANCE FOR DIFFRENT LINK TYPES CONFIGURATIONS
Hossam Mohamed Sabry Atwa El-Morsy;
Abstract
Bluetooth is a promised short range wireless networking Technology. A Bluetooth mobile device could connect as a master unit with up to seven other wireless devices as slaves units. These connected devices are formed a smallest Bluetooth construction unit named as a piconet.
The two types of physical links for Bluetooth data transmission are: Synchronous Connection Oriented (SCO) Type, and Asynchronous Connectionless (ACL) Type. The SCO Type has three Links, and the ACL Type has six Links.
The SCO and ACL Types Links have been combined to form Configurations based on the Bluetooth specifications of maximum 3 links for SCO connections, maximum 7 links for ACL connections, and maximum lMbps Bandwidth.
To utilize the Bluetooth performance, it's recommended to implement full of the predefined Bluetooth specification specially the maximum number of links and the maximum Bandwidth .
The Bluetooth two links types implementation has been concluded 35
Configurations. The Bluetooth Configurations have been analyzed based on the parameters, the Bandwidth, the Packet overhead, the Link Switching overhead, the Link Data Rate, the Link Robustness, and finally the Packet Delay.
The Bluetooth performance has been analyzed in two modes. Mode-l, the Bluetooth performance analysis based on different specified number of active slaves that defined as . • Topologies. And mode-2, the Bluetooth performance analysis based on a transit state between the different specified active slaves that have been changed.
