(Study of Cytochrome C Release in Response to Specific COX-2 Inhibitonic Lymphocytic Leukemia (B-CLL
Noha Mohamed Al- Sharkawy;
Abstract
CLL is a clonal malignancy of B-lymphocytes characterized by a defect in apoptosis.
Major advances have occurred in our understanding of the biology, immunology, and oppmiunities for treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia over the years.
Inhibition of tumor cell proliferation by induction of apoptosis, is the mechanism of action of most chemotherapeutic agents. NSAIDS have been shown to induce apoptosis in several cancer cell lines including 8-CLL cells. Therefore, the use of NSAIDs in CLL may provide an important therapeutic tool in the future.
