Abstract
Nephrotic syndrome (NS) IS a clinical entity ch,aracterized by massive protienuria, variable degrees of
edema, hypoalbuminemia and hyperlipidemia. 90 % of NS

arprimary and about 85 % of them are due to MCNS,
wl)ile secondary NS , 10 %, is due to other miscellaneous
ca;uses, intoxication, alJ:ergic, infection, metabolic,
systemic diseases ... etc.
MCNS affects children from 3 - 6 years commonly with male to female ratio 2 : 1. Flu-like syndrome may precede the onset. Infection should be suspected in all
cases initially and in those who became unresponsive to
steroids. MCNS has an excelle.nt outcome' but rel pse is
common.
