Study the changes in pathogenicity of H9N2 avian influenza virus after the use of live attenuated vaccines in broiler chickens

Zainab Mohamed Esmail;

Abstract

In the present study, two experiments were done to study the effect of different live respiratory viral vaccines used in field condition on pathogenicity of H9N2 AIV.
The following steps were carried out:
1. Propagation of AIV H9N2 strain (A/chicken/EG/1575S/2015) on SPF-ECEs, the harvested fluids showed infectivity titers of 9 log 10 EID50/ml.
2. The collected allantoic fluids were diluted to a final concentration of 106 EID50/ml to be used for infecting the chickens.
3. In experiment 1, 65 SPF one day old broiler chicks were divided into four groups numbered 1 to 4, the chicks raised for 18 days in isolators.
-Group 1: infected with H9N2 AIV via nasal route at 1st day old and vaccinated with live IBV vaccine at 5th day old.
