Further Studies on Splenectomy Techniques in Equine(donkeys) An experimental study

Abstract

Among horses and donkeys splenectomy techniques have been indicated in cases of different affections as splenomegaly, neoplasia beside accidental trauma, rupture and infarction. Different surgical techniques have been applied by many authors to find out the suitable location to get the organ extra abdominally. The suitable surgical approach has selected one or more of the last thoracic ribs to be resected in an aim to find out an accessible exit to get the spleen freely outside after ligation of its vascular channel and related structures. In donkeys, few researches have been published concerning splenectomy and hence the writer has intended to find out the best site for the removal of the organ
