Yasmen Abd Elbaset Ahmed;

Abstract

Ultraviolet radiation has many applications. It used in medicine, industry, business, research, domestic and cosmetic purposes. UV radiometers are devices used to measure the power of this radiation. To assure the accuracy of measurement these instruments has to be well characterized and the calibration procedure has to be designed to meet the growing precision and accuracy requirements
Radiometry laboratory at the National Institute of Standards (NIS), aims through this thesis to establish the national standard system for calibrating the ultraviolet radiometers.
This thesis consists of four chapters. Chapter one display an introduction and the previous researches on the subject of the calibration of UV radiometer. In addition to, clarify the aim of this study.
In chapter two the theoretical concepts were introduced through highlighting on radiometric aspects. Such as radiometric and photometric quantities and the measurement uncertainty.
