APPLICATION OF EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR NURSES ABOUT INFECTION CONTROL PI ECAUTIONc .WITH AIDS AND VIRUS HEPATITIS-B IN ASSIUT UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

Abstract

The aim ofthis study is to :

- Assessment of the nurses knowledge and practices about AIDS, virus hepatitis B and infection control precautions. - Implementation of education program for nurses about AIDS virus hepatitis B and infection control precautions.

In order to achieve the aim of the this study, an interview schedule was used in pre and post-test. It included four parts: 1. General characteristic of the nurses.

2. Nurses knowledge towards AIDS.

3. Nurses knowledge towards viral hepatitis.

4. Nurses lmowledge towards infection control precautions.

Observation chick list was developed by investigator in order to delineate and collect data related to nurses performance.

This study was carried out on 50 nurses working in obstetrics and

Gynecology department and out patient clinics.

A pilot study was carried out on I0 nurses before the field work to test the validity and clarity of the questions. Communications were carried out with the responsible personnel in order to explain the nature and purpose ofthe study.

A program was designed for nurses based on assessed nurses knowledge and skills. The program was conducted in 5 sessions to cover
