“Cone Beam Computed Tomography Comparative Assessment of Maxillofacial Morphology in Patients with Bilateral Cleft Lip and Palate”
Yomna Osama Dardeer Abdelmalek Elhoseiny;
Abstract
The aim of our study was to radiographically compare maxillofacial morphology in two suggested subtypes of bilateral cleft lip and palate patients using CBCT images.
This study was conducted using 22 CBCT scans (12 female & 10 malewith age range from 9 to 14 and mean age of 9.6) of BCLP patients obtained from the data base of the Cleft Care Center affiliated to the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department, Faculty of Dentistry, Ain-Shams University.
They were divided into two groups based on premaxillary characteristics, either protruding or rudimentary, and relation between maxilla and cranial base (SNA):
Group (P):
This represent 12 scans of BCLP characterized by well-developed prominent pre-maxilla (P) and SNA >80±2.
