Antimicrobial Efficacy of Chitosan Nanoparticles and Ethanolic Propolis Extract against Enterococcus Faecalis and Candida Albicans Biofilm (In Vitro Study)
Dalia Abdel Fattah Abbas Sayed Tantawy;
Abstract
This present study was conducted to shed a light on the antimicrobial efficacy of natural irrigants (Chitosan Nanoparticles and Propolis) versus traditional irrigant.
Forty extracted human permanent teeth with single roots were selected; any teeth with cracks, internal or external resorption were excluded. Crowns were sectioned to obtain a standardized length 16mm using a high-speed bur under coolant.
Teeth were inserted into sterilization packs and sterilized by autoclave for 20 minutes at 121°c. The E faecalis and Candida Albicans were incubated for 3 weeks to ensure a matured biofilm that fully covered the canal walls as well as the lumen of dentinal tubules.
