STUDYING THE EFFECT OF SOME GROWTH INHIBITORS AND DIFFERENT GROWING MEDIA ON THE GROWTH AND CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF Callistemon citrinus PLANT

Abstract

The present study was carried out in the experimental nursery of the Ornamental Horticulture Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, Giza, during the two successive seasons of 2014-2015 &2015- 2016. to the possibility of growing bottle brush (Callistemon citrines) as a pot plant using different growing media ( Clay, Rice straw, Sawdust) and growth inhibitors treatments (Paclobutrazol and Cycocel at the concentrations of 200,400 and 600 ppm). On the 1 of June , 2014 to 2016 ( in the first and second seasons, respectively) cutting of bottle brush (Callistemon citrines) from El-Fayoum Governorate and carry (5-8) leaves and 25 cm length, were individually in pottery pots (25-cm), filled with Clay, Rice straw and Sawdust. The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility of growing bottle brush (Callistemon citrines) as a pot plant using growth retardants treatments (Paclobutrazol, Cycocel) under different growing media (Clay, Rice straw, Sawdust)
