ESTIMATION OF.SOME TUMOR MARKERS IN VIRAL HEPATITIS
Ha.nan Abd El Bdee Ahmad Farag;
Abstract
Viral hepatitis is one of the common tropical disease in Egypt . We are trying to study the role played by hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C .Virus infections as an etiological factor in HCC inEgypt. It was planned to study the biological behavior of the tumor markers
( AFP & CEA) in various cases of viral hepatitis ( HBV & HCV) and corrlate this finding to the risk of development of hepatocellular carcmoma.
The work was carried out on a total number of 192 random blood samples of both sex aged 20 --40 years from blood donors were collected from the blood bank of Zagazig university hospital .
They were proved to have hepatitis .
The sera of these ( patients or cases ) were retested for two hepatitis markers ( HBsAg & HCV ) by Elisa technique .
We found that 127 cases were positive for hepatitis B virus ( +ve for HBsAg ) ,39 cases had hepatitis C virus and 26 cases had coinfection ( HBsAg + HCV ) viruses .
The percentage of HBsAg , HCV and both mixed group ( HBsAg + HCV) were found to be 66.2% , 20.3 % , 13.5% respectively .
80 serum samples were chosen and then classified into the
following groups :- . Group I : 40 patients had viral hepatitis B ( +ve for HBsAg ). Group II : 20 patients had viral hepatitis C ( HCV ) .
Group III: 20 patients mixed infection had both viral hepatitis
