Axial Length and White to White Corneal Diameter in Eyes with Keratoconus

Omnia Talaat Abdelwahab;

Abstract

Keratoconus is the most common corneal ectasia affects both genders and all ethnicities. The prevalence in the general population has been estimated to be approximately 54 per 100 000.
However, significant studies have been made; the etiology and pathogenesis of the condition are not fully understood.
This cross-sectional observational study was conducted upon 63 eyes, 28 of them had KC while the rest were normal controls aiming to evaluate the relation between KC and AL, VCL and WTW corneal diameter.
Keratoconus patients aging above 18 years with characteristic tomographic findings with no history of any previous ocular surgical intervention or associated corneal or ocular pathology were enrolled in our study.
A control group aging above 18 years including both emmetropic and ametropic eyes with SE ranging from (+2.5 to -
18.00 D), with no history of any previous ocular surgical intervention or associated corneal or ocular pathology were enrolled in our study.
A complete history taking and a comprehensive ophthalmic examination were performed. All patients were examined by rotating Scheimpflug corneal tomography (Pentacam HR; Oculyzer II) , IOLMaster 500 (software version7.05) and WaveLight® Topolyzer™ VARIO Diagnostic Device.
